Description
The Fuji Electric BU22-2C is an external dynamic braking unit (DBU) rated for 22 kW drive systems at 200V for use with Fuji Electric G11/P11 series variable frequency drives. This model has been discontinued; availability limited to remaining stock.
When a VFD rapidly decelerates a high-inertia load, the motor becomes a generator, returning regenerative energy back to the drive's DC bus and causing the bus voltage to rise. The BU22-2C monitors the DC bus voltage and, when it rises above a set threshold, routes this regenerative energy through an external braking resistor where it is safely dissipated as heat — preventing overvoltage faults and enabling fast, controlled deceleration.
Required for large cranes, overhead hoists, winders, centrifuges, and high-inertia fan and pump systems where regenerative braking energy exceeds the drive's built-in braking transistor capacity. Must be paired with a compatible external braking resistor sized to the application's braking duty cycle and power level. Consult the drive's technical manual for braking unit and resistor selection guidelines. Genuine Fuji Electric OEM component.
