The ProSoft Technology MVI56E-GSC is an enhanced generic serial communication module for 1756-format in-chassis platforms, designed for integrating serial ASCII and byte-value-based devices with the host control system. It adds two configurable serial communication ports in a single chassis slot, reducing dependency on the processor's front port and freeing processing time.
The enhanced generation adds network-based configuration and diagnostics: an onboard web server, local and remote diagnostics over Ethernet, and support for locating the module on the network, making commissioning and troubleshooting straightforward.
