Description

The National Instruments USB-8502 is a versatile CAN interface device designed to provide seamless integration with USB 2.0 High-Speed bus systems without the need for external power. Available in one-port (Part Number: 784661-01) and two-port (Part Number: 784662-01) variants, the USB-8502 is ideally suited for applications demanding rapid and consistent control of multiple CAN signals, including bus monitoring and robotic control. The device features a Direct Memory Access (DMA) motor that enables advanced processing capabilities. Each model includes a standard Type A USB plug for I/O connectivity and a 9-pin male D-SUB I/O connector, with the two-port model also offering a 3-pin combicon synchronization port.

The USB-8502 effectively resamples incoming signal data to produce waveforms with precision timing, aiding in the synchronization of XNET data with DAQmx analog/digital input channels. Users can set the session resample rate to minimize signal data loss, achieving high accuracy with NI-XNET timestamps that provide 100 ns precision. The I/O name can be directly linked to a XNET Interface property node for easy access to hardware-related information, including its name and serial number, which is consistent with the data available in the XNET System property node.

The one-port variation of the USB-8502 has dimensions of 3.30 x 4.05 x 0.98 inches and weighs 7.30 ounces, while the two-port model measures 3.65 x 4.05 x 0.98 inches and weighs 7.58 ounces. It operates within a temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and can be safely stored at temperatures from -20 °C to 70 °C, with humidity ranges of 10% to 90% RH during operation and 5% to 95% RH during storage. The USB-8502 complies with numerous electrical safety standards, including IEC 61010-1, EN 61010-1, UL 61010-1, and CSA C22.2 No. 61010-1, ensuring reliable performance in various industrial environments. For additional details, user and maintenance manuals are available for download, and interested customers should contact a sales representative for pricing information.
