National Instruments USB-6001

The National Instruments USB-6001 is a versatile Multifunction I/O Device designed for a broad spectrum of applications, including laboratory experiments and industrial automation systems. With part numbers 782604-01 and 782605-01, the USB-6001 features two detachable screw-terminal front connections that facilitate seamless connectivity for various sensors and signals. Engineered for portable measurement tasks, this device is bus-powered and compatible with the USB interface, operating at a bus speed of 12 Mb/s. The standard version (782604-01) includes an enclosure, while the board-only version (782605-01) is provided without an enclosure.

The USB-6001 is equipped with eight single-ended analog input channels, which can be configured as four differential channels, complemented by two analog output channels and 13 digital input/output channels. This device also incorporates a 32-bit counter designed for measuring edge counts, with a maximum input frequency of 5 MHz sourced from either PF0 or PF1. Each of the two screw terminal connectors supports digital and analog signal connections, accommodating up to 16 connections with wire sizes ranging from 0.08 to 1.31 mm² (28 to 16 AWG).

Included with the USB-6001 is the NI-DAQmx driver software, essential for device configuration, which can be programmed utilizing software platforms such as Measurement Studio, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or SignalExpress. The device is also compatible with the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool for various application functions. When not utilizing the screw terminal plugs, the dimensions of the USB-6001 are 75.4 mm × 86.2 mm × 23.6 mm (2.97 in. × 3.40 in. × 0.93 in.), and with the screw terminals attached, it measures 93.2 mm × 86.2 mm × 23.6 mm (3.67 in. × 3.40 in. × 0.93 in.). The device weighs 83 g (2.93 oz) without the connectors and 105 g (3.70 oz) with them.
