National Instruments SCXI-1163

The National Instruments SCXI-1163 is an isolated digital output module designed for industrial applications requiring robust digital I/O capabilities. This module features 32 channels organized into eight isolated banks, with each bank containing four output lines to facilitate seamless interfacing with field digital logic signals. The SCXI-1163 effectively addresses ground-loop issues and protects the host computer from harmful voltages by providing isolation. It connects via the SCXIbus, simplifying integration into existing SCXI systems without the need for additional data acquisition instruments or extensive cabling. Furthermore, the module supports parallel mode when connected directly to compatible digital I/O instruments, enhancing flexibility in various setups.

In multiplexed mode, the SCXI-1163's digital output lines can be controlled through digital lines from the connected DAQ instrument, enabling high-speed updates at a rate of 600 updates per second across all 32 lines, facilitated by the NI-DAQ 7 driver software. This driver is compatible with prominent application development environments, including LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. The module has a power consumption of 60 mA per bank typical and a maximum of 80 mA per bank, with a common-mode isolation of 250 Vrms. Its physical dimensions are 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 inches, and it features both a 50-pin male ribbon-cable rear connector and a 48-pin DIN C male front connector.
