National Instruments SCXI-1121

The National Instruments SCXI-1121 Universal Input Module (Part Number: 776572-21) is designed to accommodate a wide array of sensor and signal inputs requiring isolation. Featuring four individually configurable channels, the SCXI-1121 integrates isolation amplifiers, filters, and excitation sources that are tailored for various signal types, including strain gauges, resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), thermocouples, millivolt, volt, and current inputs. This module offers two operational output modes: the Parallel-Output Mode connects all four input channels directly to four separate data acquisition board channels, while the Multiplexed-Output Mode consolidates multiple inputs into a single channel for enhanced flexibility.

The SCXI-1121 is compatible with the NI MIO-16 Boards and can also interface with the Lab-PC+ board when operating within a single chassis SCXI system, although the Lab-PC+ cannot support multiple chassis configurations. Other NI boards, including Lab-NB, Lab-PC, Lab-LC, and PC-LPM-16, are suitable for use but are limited to single-channel reads during Multiplexed-Output mode. Capable of multiplexing multiple SCXI-1121 modules into one data acquisition channel, this functionality allows for increased analog input signal digitization.

The module employs NIDAQmx driver software compatible with programming environments such as LabVIEW and LabWindows/CVI, ensuring seamless integration into automated applications. The SCXI-1121 features manual offset potentiometers for each channel, facilitating individual channel calibration, which is recommended annually. With an output range of ±5 V, the SCXI-1121 has dimensions of 1.2 x 6.8 x 7.4 inches and weighs 23.5 ounces. Although the SCXI-1121 has been classified as obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair services through Apex Waves.
