National Instruments PXI-8820

The National Instruments PXI-8820 is a high-performance embedded PXI controller designed for industrial automation applications. Powered by a Dual-Core Intel Celeron processor operating at 2.2 GHz with 2 MB cache, this controller is equipped with 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, allowing for efficient execution of tasks. The PXI-8820 delivers a maximum controller bandwidth of 132 MB/s, supporting both the 32-bit Microsoft Windows 7 operating system and LabVIEW Real-Time OS.

The controller connects easily to external devices via four Hi-Speed USB ports, a DisplayPort, an RS-232 Serial Port, one Gigabit Ethernet connector, and a parallel port. The system also features a battery-backed dedicated memory for CMOS storage. This 3U-sized modular PC includes an internal 2.5-inch SATA notebook hard drive and supports USB mass storage devices, making it versatile for various boot options, including PXE servers and other USB or PCI-based devices.

An SMB connector is located on the front panel, facilitating communication with the PXI backplane trigger line. Users have the option to upgrade RAM via SO-DIMM assembly, thus enhancing system performance. Although there are no native PS/2 ports, PS/2 devices can be connected using a USB Y-splitter cable.
