National Instruments PXI-6255

The National Instruments PXI-6255 is a robust PXI Multifunction I/O Module designed for a wide range of measurement and automation applications. Featuring 80 analog input channels with a resolution of 16 bits, this module allows for precise data acquisition. Users can direct internal or external periodic clock signals to the input counter, which counts the number of rising or falling edges while receiving an active Gate signal. The counter also supports pulse width estimation, enabling measurement of high and low pulse widths effectively.

The PXI-6255 is compatible with both NI SCC and SCXI signal conditioning platforms, which enhance sensor performance through amplification, filtering, and power management, and comply with the IEEE 1451.4 TEDS standard for sensor information storage. This device integrates seamlessly with NI LabVIEW SignalExpress software, facilitating quick setup of measurement applications and enabling users to generate design verification tests. The high-speed capabilities of the M Series devices, combined with LabVIEW SignalExpress, streamline the workflow from test to control applications.

With two 68-pin VHDCI I/O connectors, the PXI-6255 has a recommended warm-up time of 15 minutes and requires external calibration at least once every two years. This standard 3U PXI device weighs 8.3 ounces and operates effectively within a temperature range of 0 ºC to 55 ºC during operation and -20 ºC to 70 ºC for storage. It also supports a non-condensing humidity level of 10% to 90% RH and withstands random vibrations of up to 0.3 grms while operating.

While National Instruments has announced that the PXI-6255 will be obsolete, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
