The National Instruments PXI-6238 is a high-performance Digital Multifunction I/O Module designed for a variety of measurement and control applications. This PXI module, with part number 779624-01, features bank isolation and provides 16 analog input channels with 16-bit resolution and sampling rates of up to 1.25 MS/s. In addition, it includes 2 analog output channels, 6 digital input channels, and 4 digital output channels. The PXI-6238 supports automatic calibration, ensuring accurate displacement correction and minimizing error due to drift from temperature variations over time. Its internal reference system enhances both accuracy and stability, eliminating the need for external circuitry. Factory-calibration constants are stored in onboard EEPROM, allowing for user adjustments, with new constants saved in a modifiable section of the EEPROM. Users can also revert to original factory calibration settings through the software.
This module is compatible with a wide range of sensors, including strain gauges, thermocouples, thermistors, rotary encoders, linear encoders, and resistance temperature detectors (RTDs), enabling it to measure various physical phenomena like temperature, force, sound, and light. The PXI-6238 features a single analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and utilizes multiplexers to allow one analog input channel at a time to be routed to the ADC through the NI programmable gain instrumentation amplifier (PGIA), optimizing signal processing and ensuring maximum ADC resolution across all measurement ranges. The module comes in a standard 3U PXI form factor, weighs 5.1 oz., and includes a 2-3 year warranty. Comprehensive user and maintenance manuals are available for download.
