National Instruments PXI-2531

The National Instruments PXI-2531 is a high-density, 1-Wire, 512 Crosspoint PXI Matrix Switch Module designed for sophisticated automated test systems that demand high-channel-count configurations. With its compact and high-speed reed relay technology, the PXI-2531 achieves rapid switching capabilities of up to 4000 cycles per second, featuring a relay operate time of just 0.25 ms. The module can be flexibly configured into several topologies, such as a 1-wire dual 4 × 64 matrix, a 1-wire dual 8 × 32 matrix, a 1-wire 8 × 64 matrix, and a 1-wire 4 × 128 matrix. Each channel supports a maximum switching current of 0.5 A and a maximum power of 10 W, ensuring reliable operation across various applications.

When operated with a 50 Ω termination, the PXI-2531 delivers a typical bandwidth of ≥20 MHz, while maintaining excellent channel-to-channel crosstalk performance of -70 dB at both 10 kHz and 100 kHz, -58 dB at 1 MHz, and -38 dB at 10 MHz. The module includes two 150-position Samtec ERM8 Series I/O connectors and can drive up to 40 relays in a standard PXI chassis, or up to 64 relays in a PXI Express chassis. The trigger circuitry supports input signals through PXI trigger lines with a minimum pulse width of 150 ns and can output programmable trigger signals, ranging from 1 µs to 62 µs. The PXI-2531 operates exclusively on standard PXI slots and is not compatible with Hybrid or PXIe-only slots, making it an ideal choice for dedicated PXI-based test and measurement environments.
