National Instruments PXI-2510

The National Instruments PXI-2510 is a highly versatile PXI Signal Insertion Switch Module, featuring 68 channels and designed for demanding applications in electronic reliability testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulations. This fault insertion unit allows users to create fault conditions by using dedicated feedthrough channels that enable shorting or opening connections to one or multiple fault buses. The module is compatible with a PXI Hybrid type connector, ensuring robust connectivity for a variety of setups.

With the capability to simulate interrupted or open connections, and various short configurations to battery voltages, pins, and ground on a per-channel basis, the PXI-2510 is ideal for validating fully integrated control systems, including FADECs and engine control units. Under LabVIEW Real-Time Module control, the module can recognize pulse widths under 150 ns when digital filtering is disabled, making it suitable for high-speed applications.

The PXI-2510 incorporates a non-latching electromechanical relay with a typical actuation time of 1 ms and boasts an expected mechanical relay life of 10 million cycles. The electrical relay life is specified at 500,000 cycles for 30 V, 1 A applications, and 100,000 cycles for 30 V, 2 A operations. The front panel is equipped with a male 160 DIN 41612 connector, supporting up to 160 ports.

Physically, the PXI-2510 is a 3U, single-slot PXI module, weighing approximately 12.6 oz. and measuring 18.8 cm in length, 2.0 cm in width, and 13.0 cm in height. It operates on 5 V and consumes 6.6 watts of power. The module is rated for indoor use, functioning effectively in temperatures ranging from 0 °C to 55 °C, with storage capabilities from -40 °C to 70 °C. Designed to withstand altitudes up to 2,000 m, the PXI-2510 maintains a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 85%.
