National Instruments PCI-6704

The National Instruments PCI-6704 is a high-performance analog output device designed for versatile use in current and voltage applications. Featuring 16-bit resolution and 32 channels, the PCI-6704 offers 16 individual current outputs and 16 voltage outputs, all of which can operate simultaneously to support a variety of digital I/O and DC setpoint applications. This board includes eight digital I/O lines and provides outputs ranging from 0 to 20 mA or ±10 V, allowing for flexible signal generation. The PCI-6704 is ideal for applications in industrial process monitoring, production testing, and laboratory environments, facilitating connection to diverse signal types such as LEDs and both electromechanical and solid-state relays.

Compliant with the PICMG CompactPCI 2.0 core specifications, the PCI-6704 operates seamlessly within standard CompactPCI chassis. It offers a bipolar voltage range of –10.1 to +10.1 V, with a maximum load current of ±10.1 mA ensuring precise 16-bit linearity. Notably, the device can link to either floating or grounded loads without requiring an external floating power supply for controlled current loops, maintaining current control between 0.1 and 20.2 mA. Current outputs stabilize within ±1.1 mA of user-defined values within 0.5 seconds post power-on.

The PCI-6704 requires the NIDAQmx driver software for operation and is compatible with software development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. With dimensions of 3.9 x 6.9 inches, it is built to perform in a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C, a storage range of –20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing humidity range of 5 to 90% RH.
