The IC693CMM301 is a Genius Communications Module (GCM) designed for the Series 90-30 PLC, facilitating global connectivity on a Genius Communications Bus. This intelligent module enables seamless communication between Series 90-30 PLCs and other GE Fanuc PLCs, including Series 90-70, Series Six, and Series Five, through the integration of genius bus controllers. The system supports the linking of up to 32 devices on the Genius Bus, which connects to the terminal board located on the front of the module. While the GCM can be installed on a Series 90-30 CPU baseplate, expansion baseplate, or remote baseplate, optimal performance is achieved when it is situated directly on the CPU baseplate. The module is versatile and suitable for numerous applications, including data monitoring by industrial computers and inter-device communications across the bus. Utilizing a noise-immune network, the Genius Communications bus ensures high-speed transmission of real-time control data. Series 90-30 PLCs interconnect via a single Genius I/O serial bus using standard twisted-pair, shielded cable, which must be properly terminated at both ends to guarantee reliable system performance. The front of the GCM features LED indicators that reflect the operational status: an illuminated "OK" signifies successful power checks, while the "COM" indicator reveals the health of the Genius bus—staying lit during normal operation but blinking or turning off in the event of a communication failure. Up to eight Enhanced Genius Communications Modules can be integrated into a Series 90-30 PLC system, with the capacity for I/O circuits determined by the variety of I/O devices in use and the available memory within the CPU.
