A variable frequency drive rarely performs to specification on its own. The components in this collection are what turn a drive into a reliable installation: line reactors, output filters, DC bus reactors, braking resistors, keypads, communication cards and enclosure kits for the full FRENIC range.
An AC line reactor sits ahead of the drive and does three jobs at once: it limits harmonic current drawn from the supply, protects the drive's input rectifier from voltage transients and notching, and improves the true power factor of the installation. On sites where harmonic distortion limits are enforced, or where several drives share a transformer, a reactor is not optional. Our KDR series covers the standard 3% and 5% impedance ratings across the full current range, with open and enclosed versions.
Fast-switching IGBT output produces voltage reflections on long cable runs that can more than double the voltage the motor windings actually see, which is the usual cause of premature winding failure on retrofit jobs. dV/dT and output filters slow those edges and bring peak voltage back inside the motor's insulation rating. If the run between drive and motor exceeds roughly 100 feet, an output filter belongs in the design.
