National Instruments SCXI-1166

The National Instruments SCXI-1166 is a high-performance general-purpose switch module designed for versatile signal switching and routing applications. With 32 channels of non-latching electromechanical relays, this module offers complete software programmability and a maximum cycle speed of 115 operations per second. It can switch currents up to 2 A at a maximum voltage of 30 VAC/30 VDC and carry up to 5 A per channel. The SCXI-1166 features low on-resistance and minimal thermal offsets, making it particularly suitable for handling high-current signals. Each relay is equipped with normally closed (NC), normally open (NO), and common (COM) terminals, enabling flexible wiring configurations.

The module supports a 32,000-step scan list for deterministic scanning and boasts a bandwidth of greater than or equal to 70 MHz. Compatible with the SCXI-1366 Terminal Block and standard 62-pin D-Sub connectors, the SCXI-1166 provides easy access to the relay terminals via screw connections, along with links for trigger input and output signals. It operates with a power requirement of 6.3 W at ±18.5 V and 200 mW at 5 V, and is designed for use with Windows 2000/NT/XP operating systems.

The SCXI-1166 integrates seamlessly with multiple software packages, including NI Switch Executive, Measurement Studio, LabVIEW, and LabWindows/CVI, as well as user-defined applications developed in Visual Basic or C/C++. This module, which complies with CE standards, has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C and a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, with non-condensing humidity specifications of 5% to 85%. Although the SCXI-1166 has been classified as obsolete, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves. Its dimensions are 1.2 x 6.7 x 7.6 inches, and it weighs 1 lb 10 oz.
