National Instruments PXI-7953

The National Instruments PXI-7953 is a PXI FPGA Module designed for use with the FlexRIO platform, featuring a powerful Virtex-5 LX85 FPGA and 128 MB of DRAM. This module supports complex hardware description languages (HDL) that can leverage multiple clock domains and operate asynchronously. Through an XML container, users can seamlessly integrate HDL into LabVIEW, facilitating access via I/O nodes. The inclusion of CLIP (Custom LabVIEW Interface for FPGA) nodes enhances flexibility, allowing integration with the NI FlexRIO connector module and the FPGA's DRAM. Importantly, these nodes operate independently of the LabVIEW block diagram and provide support for various clock frequencies, essential for customizing hardware interfaces. The IRIO library streamlines resource management by interpreting mapping from the FPGA header file and creating a data structure for real-time control while facilitating the loading of the FPGA bitfile into the RIO device.

This module, which offers excellent analog and digital I/O capabilities through interchangeable adapter modules, operates within the LabVIEW FPGA programming environment.
