The National Instruments PXI-7356 is a sophisticated Stepper/Servo Motion Controller Module designed for high-performance control applications. This module features eight 16-bit analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and is capable of sinusoidal commutation for up to six axes, making it ideal for applications such as valve operations and solid-state relay switching. With 64 digital I/O channels and a robust 16-bit analog I/O capability, the PXI-7356 is well-suited for reading potentiometers and performing various analog measurements. Its design enables precise control of high-axis parallel mechanisms, allowing all axes to be synchronized and initiated simultaneously using the Start Motion.flx function. Each axis follows user-defined velocity and acceleration profiles, ensuring that axes operate in harmony.
Additionally, the PXI-7356 incorporates a static-friction compensation feature that preemptively adjusts for existing friction, enabling an effective torque build-up through an initial high compensated voltage. The module supports multiple servo loop modes, including PID, PIVff, S-Curve, and dual loop, with an S-curve time range configurable up to 32,767 samples. For applications requiring stepper outputs, this controller can achieve a maximum pulse rate of 8 MHz, including full, half, and micro step modes. Safety mechanisms, including a watchdog timer function, are integrated to maintain board integrity by resetting to the startup stage as necessary. Although the PXI-7356 has been marked obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repairs through Apex Waves. The product includes a 2-3 year warranty, and user and maintenance manuals can be downloaded for reference. For pricing details, please contact a sales representative directly.
