The National Instruments PXI-2172 is a sophisticated Digital Video Analyzer specifically designed for integration into PXI chassis, facilitating the analysis of HDMI-grade digital video signals within the NI VMS test environment. The module features a 19-pin HDMI connector and is equipped with two 68-pin VHDCI connectors for comprehensive video interfacing. Additionally, it includes a small-geometry connector for audio transmission and a CEC output. The PXI-2172 adheres to HDCP content scrambling protocols, ensuring compliance with the robustness and safety requirements set by various HDCP license holders. One of the VHDCI connectors functions as the primary interface, supporting a video source up to 32 bits and enabling connection to digital I/O modules using a 0.5 m shielded cable. For audio acquisition, the analyzer can interface with any R-series module. The PXI-2172 also provides buffered outputs for DDC clock data, facilitating the monitoring of DDC traffic and supporting Hot Plug Detect (HPD) operations for HDCP re-authentication and EDID resending. With a maximum TMDS clock rate of 225 MHz and a maximum pixel clock rate of 165 MHz, it supports either six channels of DSD audio or up to eight channels of I2S audio. Although marked as a legacy product, the PXI-2172 remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves. Users have access to documentation, including the user and maintenance manuals, for operational guidance.
