The Keyence LR-W500C is a high-performance, self-contained color sensor that utilizes a high-intensity white LED to solve challenging detection applications standard sensors cannot. Unlike traditional red-light sensors that rely solely on brightness contrast, the LR-W500C analyzes the full color spectrum, enabling it to reliably distinguish between targets with similar finishes, such as dark blue caps on black bottles or silver labels on steel cans. Housed in a rugged zinc die-cast body with an IP67 rating, it offers a long detection range of up to 500mm and a rapid 200µs response time, making it ideal for high-speed industrial environments.

Full Spectrum Color Sensor
A self-contained sensor utilizing a White LED light source to detect targets based on color variation, solving contrast applications that standard red-light sensors cannot.
Why the LR-W succeeds where standard sensors fail.
To a red light, dark blue and black look like the same "shade of grey." The intensity return is identical.
The LR-W analyzes the Color Ratio. Even if brightness is low, it sees the "Blueness" vs "Blackness."
When distinguishing similar colors (like a silver label on a steel can, or a dark blue cap on a black bottle), the "Signal Difference" is critical.
Standard sensors rely on Intensity (brightness). The LR-W relies on Chromaticity (color hue).
