National Instruments VXI-1500

The National Instruments VXI-1500 is a high-performance VXI Mainframe designed to meet the rigorous demands of industrial automation and control applications. Featuring a robust backplane with 13 C-sized VXIbus slots, the VXI-1500 is compatible with A-sized and B-sized modules when used with appropriate adapters. The mainframe's structural design promotes efficient thermal management with a cooling capacity of 85 W per slot, achieved through filtered forced-air cooling and an integrated 1100 W power supply for 115 VAC input or 1420 W for 230 VAC input. With an input voltage range of 85 to 264 VAC and a frequency range of 47 to 500 Hz, the VXI-1500 is built for versatility in diverse environments.

Designed for maintainability, the VXI-1500 has a low mean time to repair (MTTR), incorporating features such as overcurrent protection with push-reset circuit breakers and a removable power supply, which boasts a mean time between failure (MTBF) of 50,000 hours. The mainframe is equipped with a back-panel connector for remote power monitoring and inhibition, along with a recessed On/Off switch for enhanced safety. It can be either rackmounted or positioned on a bench, providing flexibility in deployment. Although National Instruments has announced the obsolete status of the VXI-1500, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
