Description

The National Instruments SCXI-1162 Digital I/O Module (Part Number: 776572-62) is an optically isolated module designed for interfacing with field digital logic signals, including TTL and CMOS, particularly in applications where common-mode voltage conditions may arise. This module effectively integrates with a variety of National Instruments data acquisition boards, including the MIO-16 and AT-MIO-64F-5, as well as Lab-NB, Lab-PC, Lab-PC+, Lab-LC, and PC-LPM-16 boards, along with DIO-24, DIO-32F, and DIO-96 boards. Users can control multiple SCXI-1162 modules using a single data acquisition board within the same chassis. For direct signal attachment, the SCXI-1326 shielded terminal block is available, featuring screw terminals.

The SCXI-1162 comprises 32 channels, with a reference voltage range of +5 to +10 V and an input impedance of 360 ohms. It achieves a serial data rate of 580 reads per second, providing efficient data handling. The module is equipped with a configurable back connector, allowing for parallel data transmission from the inputs or establishing a serial communication link via the SCXIbus. Additionally, users can configure this back connector to connect with either DIO-type or MIO-type data acquisition boards by adjusting six user-configurable jumpers and one reserved jumper. When operating on the SCXIbus configuration, the settings of these jumpers have no impact on module function.

For utilizing the SCXI-1162, the NIDAQmx driver software is required, enabling compatibility with various application development environments (ADEs), including LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio. The physical dimensions of the module are 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 inches. While the SCXI-1162 has been designated as obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
