National Instruments SCXI-1161

The National Instruments SCXI-1161 is an 8-channel general-purpose switch module, designated by part number 776572-61, featuring individual single-pole double-throw (SPDT) latching relays. This module is designed for effective switching, routing, and control of medium-level signals, and is particularly suitable for higher power applications with relays capable of switching up to 8 A at 125 Vrms, 6 A at 250 Vrms, or 5 A at 30 VDC. Each channel includes a normally closed (NC), normally open (NO), and common (COM) terminal, allowing for versatile signal management. For expanded capabilities, multiple SCXI-1161 modules can be integrated into one or more chassis to facilitate the control of thousands of signals. The switch module supports a maximum switching rate of 3 operations per second and is fully software programmable, enhancing its application in industrial process monitoring, laboratory testing, and production testing environments.

When utilized with an SCXI chassis, the SCXI-1161 functions effectively as both a controller and a switcher. Configuration is facilitated through the NI-SWITCH driver software, and the back-signal connector comprises a 50-pin male ribbon-cable header, with an accompanying 50-position polarized ribbon-socket connector with strain relief. Additionally, the module features a 16 x 2 minicombicon header and 24 screw terminal I/O connectors, with a relay operate and release time of 15 ms.

The SCXI-1161 measures 6.8 inches by 8.0 inches by 1.2 inches and weighs 12 ounces. Its operational specifications include a temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of -20 °C to 70 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity of 5% to 85%.
