National Instruments PXI-8366

The National Instruments PXI-8366 Remote Control Module (Part Number: 781401-01) is designed for seamless integration with a variety of PCs, laptops, and motherboards equipped with PCI, PCI Express, or ExpressCard slots. Although certain complex MXI-Express configurations may occasionally lead to BIOS compatibility issues, solutions are readily available through the download of MXI-Express BIOS compatibility software from National Instruments. Utilizing fiber-optic cabling, the PXI-8366 supports a maximum cable length of 200 meters, eliminating the need for shielded cables. For optimal operation within a Multichassis PXI System, the module should be installed in the controller slot (slot 1) of the second chassis.

This remote control module enhances system performance by enabling improved error correction and robust handling capabilities under challenging conditions, while also providing a cost-effective solution that facilitates the control of two chassis from a single host PC card. It is important to note that the NI MXI-Express x1 Series boards, including the PXI-8366, are not compatible with NI MXI-3 or NI MXI-4 Series boards, despite having identical connectors; the differing board-to-board communication protocols prevent interoperability. Although the PXI-8366 has been designated as obsolete by National Instruments, it remains available for purchase and repairs through Apex Waves.
