The National Instruments PXI-8232 is a versatile PXI GPIB Instrument Control Module that integrates a Gigabit Ethernet port with a high-performance GPIB controller within a compact single-slot design. This module supports the integration of both non-PXI and PXI-enabled systems, facilitating seamless communication that can achieve transfer rates of up to 1,000 Mbit/s due to its embedded Intel 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet controller. The PXI-8232 is available under various part numbers tailored for different operating systems: 781753-01 for Windows and LabVIEW Real-Time, 778658-01 for Windows and LabVIEW Real-Time versions 2009 and earlier, and 778659-01 for Windows NT/ME/96.

Additionally, the integrated Ethernet port allows the module to function as an EtherCAT master, easily programmable with the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT toolkit in LabVIEW. Included with the PXI-8232 is a complimentary license for the NI 488.2 driver software, ensuring robust synchronization with third-party GPIB instruments. The module features standard RJ-45 and 24-pin IEEE 488 connectors, enabling versatile connectivity options. Humidity specifications are 10% to 90% RH during operation and 5% to 95% RH during storage. The module is designed to withstand random vibrations, making it suitable for rigorous industrial environments.
