The National Instruments ISC-1722 Smart Camera (Part Number: 780146-01) is a monochrome imaging solution tailored for real-time embedded vision applications. Part of the NI-17xx Smart Camera Series, the ISC-1722 is equipped with a high-performance 400 MHz PowerPC processor and a 1/3-inch Sony ICX424AL CCD monochrome image sensor, offering a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and the capability to acquire images at speeds up to 60 frames per second. This versatile camera is suitable for various industrial applications, including code reading, part location, defect detection, and assembly verification. Although it lacks the direct drive lighting controller featured in most NI Smart Cameras, the ISC-1722 provides essential connectivity options. It includes two optically isolated digital inputs and two outputs for seamless integration with external devices, as well as dual gigabit Ethernet ports for efficient communication. Additionally, the camera is equipped with an RS232 serial port and supports 5V and 24V lighting strobe outputs to synchronize with third-party lighting controllers. The ISC-1722 supports configuration through NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection or NI Vision Acquisition Software, though it does not include quadrature encoder support. National Instruments has announced the ISC-1722 as obsolete; however, it remains available for purchase and repair through Apex Waves.
