Description
The National Instruments GPIB-1394 is a versatile GPIB controller designed for integration with IEEE 1394 FireWire ports. This compact device transforms a PC into a fully featured GPIB controller, enabling the connection and control of up to 14 programmable GPIB instruments. The GPIB-1394 is compatible with IEEE 488.1 and IEEE 488.2 standards, ensuring reliable communication across various configurations. It operates seamlessly with software environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio, utilizing the NI-488.2 driver software.
Key features include hot-pluggable connectivity, which simplifies installation and enhances portability for applications on PCs without available I/O slots. The controller supports multiple transfer rates, including S100 (100 Mbits/s), S200 (200 Mbits/s), and S400 (400 Mbits/s), allowing for flexible data transfer options. Connectivity is provided through three standard 6-pin sockets for the IEEE 1394 ports and a standard 24-pin GPIB port.
The GPIB-1394 is available under part number 777738-01 and can also be rack-mounted for enhanced configuration. Power is supplied via an external source with a requirement of 9 to 30 VDC.
