The GE Fanuc IC693MDL742 is a 12/24 Volt DC Positive Logic Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP) Output Module designed for use with the Series 90-30 PLC. The positive logic design enables current sourcing from either the user common or the positive power bus to connected loads, which may include solenoids, indicators, and motor starters. These output devices must be configured between the negative power bus and the module output, with external power provided for operation.

For user convenience, the IC693MDL742 includes two rows of LED indicators displaying the ON/OFF status for each output point; Row A1 corresponds to outputs 1-8, while Row B1 covers outputs 9-16. Additionally, a red LED labeled "F" serves as a tripped short circuit protection indicator, activating when any short circuit is detected. It is important to note that while this module protects the board from short-circuited loads, it does not prevent individual outputs from exceeding maximum ratings. The module incorporates two electronic short circuit protection circuits—one for each bank of outputs.

To reset the short circuit protection, users must disconnect the 12/24 VDC user supply. The module is equipped with a hinged door that covers a section containing circuit wiring information, while the outer surface allows for circuit identification notation. Identified by a blue strip on the edge, this low-voltage module lacks fuses and can be installed in any I/O slot of either a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate within the Series 90-30 PLC system. The rated output current is 1.0 Amp per point, with a voltage range of 12 to 24 Volts DC (+20%, -15%).
