The GE Fanuc IC693CMM311 is a high-performance Communications Coprocessor Module designed for use with Series 90-30 modular CPUs, specifically compatible with models 311, 313, and 323. This module does not support embedded CPUs and features dual serial ports, with Port 1 configured for RS-232 applications and Port 2 capable of supporting either RS-232 or RS-485. Both ports are connected via a single connector, and a wye cable (IC693CBL305) is provided to facilitate wiring separation. The IC693CMM311 supports multiple communication protocols, including GE Fanuc CCM, RTU (Modbus), and SNP, allowing for versatile integration in various applications. Users can configure the module using configuration software or select a default setup as needed. In systems utilizing a CPU of 331 or higher, up to four Communications Coprocessor Modules may be installed via the CPU baseplate. Notably, earlier versions of this module required attention when both ports were configured as SNP slave devices, but version 4.0, released in July 1996, resolved this issue.
