The IC200MDL730 is a discrete output module from GE Automation and Controls, part of the VersaMax series. This module features a single group of eight output points that function as positive logic or sourcing types, enabling efficient switching of loads to the positive side of the power supply. To facilitate load switching, the IC200MDL730 requires an external direct current power source in addition to the standard backplane power supply. It is essential that the backplane power source remains stable for at least one second prior to applying field power; otherwise, a false output point fault may occur. This module includes built-in fault detection diagnostics that can identify overloads or short circuits, with each output point protected by Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP) and overcurrent protection. However, it is important to note that channel-to-channel isolation is not supported. The output points can handle up to 2 amperes of current at 30 volts direct current, with the module collectively capable of driving a maximum load of 8 amperes. Current consumption from the 5-volt backplane is 50 milliamps, while the output voltage range spans from 17.5 to 30 volts direct current, with a nominal output voltage of 24 volts and an acceptable maximum output voltage drop of 0.5 volts.
