National Instruments PXI-5421

The National Instruments PXI-5421 is a high-performance PXI Waveform Generator designed for diverse test and measurement applications, particularly in communication, research, automotive, and military/aviation sectors. This compact 3U PXI module occupies a single slot and features a maximum sample rate of 100 MS/s, complemented by 16-bit DAC resolution and onboard memory options including 8 MB, 32 MB, 256 MB, and 512 MB, allowing for the generation of precise arbitrary and periodic waveforms. The PXI-5421 delivers a maximum bandwidth of 43 MHz, significantly enhancing waveform download speeds—up to 280 times faster than traditional GPIB-based generators.

Integration capabilities are bolstered through Synchronization and Memory Core (SMC) technology, enabling users to employ digitizers for advanced jolt/reaction frameworks and synchronize the generator with other waveform generators for phase-coherent multichannel generation. The device operates using NI-FGEN driver software, encompassing extensive compatibility with application development environments such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and Measurement Studio.
